Detoxifying With Fiber Supplements
Unlike most people think, fiber supplements don't only help your body cleanse the colon, but actually the whole body.
Your liver is the central station of all detoxification in the body, and what it does is it takes harmful or unnecessary chemicals in your body, and converts them by usually removing a hydrogen atom or adding an oxygen atom in them. This makes them usually even more harmful and this is called Phase 1 detoxification. After that is the phase 2 detoxification where the liver adds usually a glucuronic acid to the molecule, or a methly group or some other compound to make it soluble to water so it can be removed from the body through the kidneys or through your gall. After that the compound is pumped to the gall bladder along with the gall fluids, and when you eat somethign the next time it will be pumped to your intestine, thus detoxing your system.
The problem is that the flora in your gut, can easily make the compound insoluble to water once again - this will make it possible for your body to absorb. So the compound will be detoxified by the liver, then toxified in the gut, reabsorbed and detoxed once again. To prevent this, you should use fiber supplements, as they have a natural capability to bind to these compounds before they are reabsorbed. Because of this, they will help your body get rid of harmful chemicals and they will give your detox system some rest. You should be using some kind of fibre on a regular basis as it is something that is very important - most of us don't get enough fiber from our diets, and something I have found very helpful is the Fibretrim - it is also good tasting so you don't have to worry about the usual bad taste that you get in drinks like this. The best part is that it also helps you lose weight through many different ways.
Having a diet rich in fibre will also promote the growth of the healthy bacteria in your gut. There can only be so much bacteria in the gut, and if you do what you can to improve the good ones, the bad ones will go away. So you can say good by to IBS, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and a loads of other problems as well. People are known to have rashes and allergic reactions more easily because of bad gut bacteria, and that is why you will notice an improvement in almost all areas of life when you start using more fibre.
What fibres do I recommend?
You should not really get stuck on just one fiber supplement as the research shows that your body can't use one type of fibre for much longer than one week a row in the worst case. So whenever someone tells you to eat flaxseed every day of the year, you can be pretty sure that they don't know what they are saying. I would recommend at least weekly changing the type of fibre you are using. For example flaxseed, inulin, apple fibre, psyllium husk, Fibretrim and then start over. It is simple, and in the long run much more efficient than just using the one supplement you found. What most people realize after using one fibre for a while is that they need to make their doses larger. At first they might just be taking 5g in the morning and evening, but after a few weeks they have to be taking 30g in the morning and in the evening to get the same results - this is exactly the reason.
